BA programme
Main Fields of Study
Finnish language, comparative literature, history and linguistics.
Languages of instruction
Primarily Danish but also Finnish. The examinations are conducted in both Danish and Finnish.
Access requirements
The applicant with no proficiency in Finnish must complete an introductory language course worth 30 ECTS.
Programme requirements
The aim of the Bachelor of Arts in Finnish Studies is to give students broad academic competences in the study programme’s subject areas, including a basic command of the Finnish language in both spoken and written form. The study programme consists of a large block of compulsory courses (135 ETCS) a number of electives (45 ECTS) and is concluded with an independent written project (worth 15 ECTS).
Professional status
A BA in Finnish Studies qualifies graduates for jobs in teaching, translation and cultural communication. It also qualifies for further studies at MA level.

Programme requirements
The aim of the Master of Arts in Finnish Studies is to give students advanced academic competences in the study programme’s subject areas, including near-fluency in spoken and written Finnish. The study programme consists of a large compulsory block of courses (a total of 90 ECTS) and is concluded with a Master’s thesis (worth 30 ECTS).
Professional status
The Master of Arts in Finnish Studies qualifies the candidate for positions in teaching, translating, interpretation and cultural communication, particularly within Nordic and European collaboration and in the business sector.
