BA programme
Languages of instruction
Primarily Danish, but some courses may be taught in English. Examinations are also primarily in Danish, but a special dispensation may be sought to sit them in English.
Programme requirements
The Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics aims at providing the student with a basic grasp of the core area of Linguistics and its theories and methods – and at teaching the student to apply relevant methodology and theory to the analysis of delimited linguistic corpora. The study programme covers two years of course work (120 ECTS) in Linguistics plus one year of elective subjects in other departments at the Faculty of Humanities (45 ECTS). The BA programme includes 7 modules worth 15 ECTS each and 2 worth 7,5 ECTS, covering the core areas of morphology, syntax, phonetics and phonology, semantics and pragmatics, and the use of IT tools in linguistic analysis. The programme is concluded with an individual written project (worth 15 ECTS).

Programme requirements
The MA in Linguistics aims at providing the student with a deeper understanding of the core areas of Linguistics and of the main theoretical approaches to solving specific types of analytical problems. The student may choose to specialize in a particular theoretical or empirical field within the discipline, e.g. cognitive linguistics, language technology, morphological analysis, syntactic theory, language typology, semantics, sign language or acoustics phonology, or in related disciplines such as sociology, psychology, philosophy or physiology. The study programme consists primarily of supervised individual study, though courses relevant to fulfilling the requirements for the degree will generally be running throughout the year, either within or without the department. The degree programme consists of 6 flexible modules of 15 ECTS each (normally two per semester) plus a thesis (worth 30 ECTS).
Professional status
An MA in Linguistics gives general access to PhD studies, subject to institutional approval. It qualifies the graduate for teaching or research in linguistic disciplines (general or applied) and for language-related positions in the state or private sectors, such as dictionary or translation work.
